Menopause: Unfiltered

Menopause: Unfiltered

Real Women, Real Experiences, Real Conversations

Let's talk about menopause. The good bits. The difficult ones. And the things nobody warned us about.

Menopause is something that every woman will experience if she lives long enough, yet for so many, it remains a topic surrounded by silence, uncertainty and misunderstanding.

At So Divine, we believe it's time to change that.

As part of our work with GenM, we're proud to support the M-Tick initiative, helping to make menopause more visible, better understood and easier to talk about.

With 48 signs of menopause, it's important that women feel seen, heard and supported. The M-Tick is a menopause-friendly symbol designed to help women identify products and services that support their needs.

But menopause awareness isn't just about products. It's about people, experiences and conversations.

Menopause: Unfiltered – Women in Their Own Words

To celebrate Menopause Awareness Month, we asked our community to tell us what menopause really feels like.

Not the polished version. Not what we're told to expect. But the honest, unfiltered reality of navigating this stage of life.

Their responses were powerful, personal and, for many women, incredibly relatable.

Here's what they had to say.

"I wish I'd known… everything."

Sometimes, it's not one particular symptom or experience that catches us off guard. It's the sheer amount we don't know until we're living through it.

There's still so much about menopause that women often only discover when they're already going through it.

From physical changes to emotional shifts, the experience can feel overwhelming, particularly when we haven't been given the information or support to prepare.

This is why education and open conversations matter so much. The more we share, the less women have to navigate the unknown alone.

"I always feel fat and unattractive."

Menopause can change more than our bodies. It can change how we see ourselves, too.

Changes in weight, body shape, skin and confidence can leave women feeling disconnected from the person they once knew.

And while these experiences are common, that doesn't make them any less difficult.

It's important to acknowledge the emotional impact of menopause alongside the physical symptoms. Women deserve to feel confident, comfortable and valued at every stage of life.

"My s3x life is non existent, as I just can't bring myself to undress."

This is a side of menopause that deserves far more attention.

Changes in body confidence, intimacy and sexual desire can have a significant impact on relationships and self-esteem.

Yet these are often the conversations women feel least comfortable having.

When we create space for honest discussions about intimacy, we're reminding women that their experiences are valid and that support is available.

Nobody should feel embarrassed about seeking advice or talking about how menopause is affecting their intimate life.

"What helps you feel more like yourself? Nothing right now."

Four words that say so much.

For some women, menopause can feel like losing touch with who they are.

When symptoms affect sleep, mood, energy and confidence, even the things that once brought happiness or comfort can feel out of reach.

This response is a reminder that menopause isn't always easy, and not everyone has found the answers or support they need.

Sometimes, the most important thing we can do is listen, acknowledge those feelings and make sure women know they don't have to face them alone.

"What would you say to another woman going through menopause? We can support each other."

And perhaps this is one of the most important messages of all.

We can support each other.

Through shared experiences, honest conversations, kindness and understanding, we can help make menopause feel less isolating.

Whether it's checking in on a friend, sharing helpful information or simply listening without judgement, small acts of support can make a meaningful difference.

Because no woman should have to navigate menopause alone.

Let's Keep Talking About It

The good bits. The difficult ones. The unexpected changes. The things nobody warned us about.

All of it deserves to be part of the conversation.

At So Divine, we're committed to helping break down the stigma surrounding menopause and encouraging women to speak openly about their experiences.

Our work with GenM and the M-Tick is part of that commitment, helping to build a world where menopause is more visible, better understood and recognised.

Because when women feel informed, supported and heard, we can begin to change the menopause experience for the better.

Let's keep sharing. Let's keep listening. And most importantly, let's keep supporting each other.
